Is the Bouquet Club a Right Fit for Me?

You may have seen our recent news about launching the next season of Bouquet Club subscriptions, but still aren't sure what all that entails. You may be asking, is the Bouquet Club a right fit for me? Maybe you have lots of questions.

Or, you may be like a certain family member of mine that has to gather all the facts, list the pros and cons, price shop, put something in a cart three times, abandon the cart, waffle over their decision and then ultimately choose to purchase...or not purchase.

Ok, that person is me. I'm the family member. Decisions can be hard.

Anyways, I've put together 5 reasons why a bouquet subscription might be a good fit for you.

"Is the Bouquet Club right for me?" Woman holding a wrapped bouquet

1.) You want to experience farm-fresh flowers in the peak of their growing season. That first bouquet of richly colorful blooms feels like heaven after a long, cold, very gray winter. We offer the subscription just as spring warms into summer, because experience tells us that is when our flowers are the most beautiful, abundant, and ready to be harvested. This also gives us a little more flexibility when our weather here in Oklahoma is least predictable. (Like last year when we had three tornadoes in late spring, then 4 straight weeks of rain...there was some waiting involved.)

2.) You want to support a local farm and get to know the people who are growing the flowers you enjoy. It is no secret that we Americans are not always well-informed about where we purchase our products from, who the companies are that produce them, or what these companies stand for. When you choose to support local flowers, you know every dollar you spend supports people in your community who work hard to grow produce ethically and sustainably on a small scale. These growing practices are better for the environment in more ways than you might think.

3.) You want to enjoy a beautiful bouquet of flowers that will last more than 3 days in the vase. Unlike mass-market flowers, many farm-fresh flowers that have been harvested correctly last up to 10 days or longer in the vase, depending on the variety. Our subscription customers have reported that some of their bouquets have lasted more than 2 weeks in the vase! In fact, many subscribers said they had to find more vases because their previous week's bouquet were still fresh! Think about all the extra time you get to enjoy those beautiful blooms.

4.) You want to learn about the flowers you enjoy and discover new varieties. We have heard over and over about how our customers have loved being introduced to new kinds of flowers they have never heard of before. Local farms are able to offer more heirloom-type flowers and lesser known varieties because often these flowers are not able to be shipped long distances, a practice that the mass-market floral industry depends on. It is a special treat for the farmer to introduce and teach their customers about flowers that have been grown for centuries in cottage gardens around the world, yet most Americans have never known about.

5.) You want to treat yourself or someone you love with a weekly dose of beauty and positivity. There are many reasons why people love to buy flowers, but one of the primary reasons is that their beauty feels like a private luxury. Having a gorgeous freshly-picked bouquet of flowers makes us feel inspired, curious, and alive. For some people, flowers make us feel special and deserving of thought and care. For others, they simply add a welcoming and comfortable touch to their home or office environment. When we buy flowers for others, we are saying, "You are valuable to me, and you deserve to have something beautiful and extraordinary in your life."

Still have questions? Here are some frequently asked questions:

Where are the pickup locations? In short, they are yet to be determined as we are still securing extra locations based on our customer's locations. Last year, we were at a chocolate shop in central Norman. We are considering an east side and a west side location this year, as well as a south Oklahoma City location depending on the number of subscribers we get per area.

When will I receive my bouquets? Delivery customers will receive their bouquets on Thursdays. Pick-Ups will take place on Fridays.

How will the bouquets arrive? Your bouquet will be bunched in a rubber band and wrapped in a protective paper or plastic floral wrap. They will include a floral preservative.

Will my bouquet come in a vase? No, but you may purchase the perfect-sized vase from us!

May I buy a subscription for someone else? YES! A bouquet subscription makes an awesome gift. You may also share the subscription with someone else.

Why does the delivery option cost more? To cover our travel expenses and vehicle depreciation, a weekly $10 ($15 for OKC) delivery fee has been included in the total price of the delivery subscription offer.

What if I am out of town the week of my subscription? If you are unable to receive your flowers during one of your subscription weeks, you can assign your flowers to someone else or choose to have your flowers donated. You will simply let us know of your preference. When we donate flowers, they often go to someone in hospital or church care. That being said, if flowers are not picked up from a local pick up location, they will be donated.

What do you do with the money raised from these subscriptions? Great question! Every dollar earned from the subscriptions helps us buy seeds and supplies, build farm infrastructure (new growing shop and event space, yay!), and supports our grower and business education.
